Adam Kokesh
Candidate Adam Kokesh was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and is a veteran of the Iraq war. During his junior year at Native American Preparatory School in San Ysidro, New Mexico, Adam enlisted in the Marine Corps. In 2004, he volunteered for deployment in Iraq and served in Fallujah as part of the 3rd Civil Affairs Group. After returning from Iraq, Kokesh resumed his studies and completed his bachelor's degree in psychology at Claremont McKenna College. For two years, Kokesh was an active participant in the Iraq Veterans Against the War. In April 2009, a group of supporters put up a draft website to encourage him to run for U.S. Congress in New Mexico’s 3rd district where he is from. Adam Kokesh announced the launch of a congressional exploratory committee on May 1st, 2009. On July 4, 2009 he committed to run.
